Hi friends,
As I reflect on 2022, I’m struck by how many significant highs and lows have arisen in close succession. This year has been a weird amalgamation of joy and frustration, and ultimately a lesson in being present, appreciating what is right here in front of me, and remembering to prioritize the joy I can find in the everyday.
More than anything, though, I’m deeply grateful for my health, my friends, and the amazing community of creative folks I’ve been part of (this includes you!).
Here's what I've been thinking and writing about over the past few months:
After receiving a number of questions about my process and materials, I dedicated a whole post to frequently asked questions. Have something else you're curious about? I'd love to hear from you! Shoot me an email or write me on Instagram.
I was a featured artist in Andrea Chebeleu's Fall 2022 Under the Influence Art Journaling series.* After chatting with other participants, I wrote about a tenet of my creative philosophy: embracing mistakes.
It’s a weird thing to be reminded that nothing is permanent. After more than 13 years on Twitter, I decided to try out Mastodon.
Another journal completed! Check out a full flip through of my Baltimore Journal III.
Another journal created! I filmed my process for making art journals. (It's far simpler than it looks; this is the guide I use for Coptic stitch binding.)
Each December, I prep for the coming year with a new planner and log book; this year, I also happened to need a new commonplace book. Here's everything I got for 2023.
This season has been heavy, and I've been leaning in to basically anything that will help me stay grounded and centered. I decided to give a "To Feel" list a try.
I'm beginning one of my favorite processes: reflecting on the past year and setting goals for the year ahead. Stay tuned: the 2022 wrap up will be posted to my blog on January 1. (In the meantime, here are things of note from 2021).
Thanks for reading and sharing this space with me. I appreciate your being here! The next newsletter will go out the first day of spring, but til then, you can find me at my blog or on Instagram.
Take care,
Ingrid

PS. If you're new — hi! Let me introduce myself.
Yay, what a great way to write a newsletter - like a list. I might try this next year. Happy New Creative Year Ingrid!
