Hi friends,
I won’t sugarcoat it: these past few months have been excruciatingly difficult, for so many reasons. This year, as a whole, was a one of wild — and often painful — growth. Though I’m happy to have it nearly behind me, I do appreciate the lessons it reinforced: community is everything; joy is everywhere; art is central to my well-being; and I am, unquestionably, loved.
Here's what I've been thinking and writing about over the past few months:
I am so excited to share that I am officially a Get Messy featured artist for 2024! Having worked with Caylee and the Get Messy Art team for Messy May earlier this year, I am seriously impressed with how kind, supportive, creative, and human they are. Details on registration to come.
The Kindred Collective continues. Below are my contributions thus far. Each piece is about 2in (5cm) square, done entirely in collage with a phrase cobbled together from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and is a response to a monthly prompt.
I’ve been thinking at length about the legal murkiness of selling art that includes collage of copywritten text, images, newspapers, etc. I continue to make personal work without limitation on materials, but have also been experimenting with other completely original work to sell. (If you’re a collage artist, I’d love to hear how you approach this!)
During January, I’ll be a featured artist hanging in Atelier No 5’s windows, and I’m busy creating work to sell. If you’re local to Cologne, Germany, please come by!
Threads finally reached the EU! Come explore this new platform with me.
There are some more exciting things in the works that have to stay under wraps for now, but I look forward to celebrating big with you when the time comes.
Thanks for reading and sharing this space with me. The next newsletter will go out the first day of spring but til then, you can find me at my blog or on Instagram.
Take care,
Ingrid
PS. If you're new — hi! Let me introduce myself.
