I know how you feel. I started a nice painting only to make it so very ugly. It will rise above it all at some point, but it must get ugly first with all the play.
Making ugly art when you're specifically trying *not* to make ugly art is so discouraging. For me, it's only when I embrace the process and make more art that I tend to break through and, eventually, create something I like. Keep going and, yes, remember to play!
